Thumbs down:
1. Copenhagen. Bleh.
2. Well... our political scandals. I don’t even want to know. They will have to sort it out without me U.U
3. The writer block I had this week I DON’T NEED THIS NOW, WORLD. At least it’s over. I think.
4. I had to wake up at 1 p.m. today so I IZ SLEEPY… wat, I’m a night owl okay
Thumbs up:
1. Found my plot for my USUK fic exchange. I think. Now I just need to write it. 8D
2. Waxed my legs. Not Brazilian wax, because I’m not that brave. Still. My legs are all pretty now. Erm. What do you mean too much information?
3. Finished Christmas shopping, the reason why I woke up at that ungodly hour in the first place.
4. Finally watched The Princess and the Frog, and it was lovely, so yay. :D
And I also read some bits of heartwarming shippy news, which I’ll share with you because it’s almost Christmas and I’m sure everyone wants to know about vaccines on Christmas \o/
So, this. Basically, explains how Argentina will produce vaccine against yellow fever and will import the technology from Brazil. Apparently, our vaccines are pretty awesome – and we’re the second producer of this one (first one is nii-chan) and if everything works out Martin will be the third. There’s more – Luci will be helping to build milk banks and will contribute with academic production on this field, and by contributing with Academy I mean, of course, he’ll be going to Martin’s universities to get master degrees and PhDs because Argentina’s med schools are pretty awesome.
Cool, isn’t it? I mean, Lu’s not going to sell the thing to him, he’ll teach him how to do it. I did a quick research here and found that we’ll also be working together to create the vaccine against swine flu and other diseases too, so now I keep picturing these two in a lab practicing Mad Science and hey, don’t look at me like that, those science coat things are HOT.
And so is biotechnology.
Then I google-ed some more and found that Lulu will be buying Martin’s vaccine agains foot and mouth disease . I have no idea what is this, only that’s about cows, but whatever. According to... whoever wrote it:
Industry and Tourism Minister Débora Giorgi and Foreign Minister Jorge Taiana announced that they were able to overcome barriers and allow the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccines' export to Brazil.
Translation: DON’T EVEN ASK IT TOOK ELEVEN HOURS OF NEGOTIATION, CHRIST!
Well, actually, she says it was pretty fast, ‘cause it took them only nine months. Or something like that. But they did it, and this makes me happy and all warm and full of fluttering hearts above my head. Even if we’re actually talking about cows. Anyway.
The head of Biogénesis Bagó, Alejandro Gil, highlighted the fact that this is the "first vaccine produced in another country to enter the Brazilian market."
I admit I was a little intrigued, but this actually made sense when I thought about it. I think Lu’s very proud of his own madz, erm, vaccine-making skillz, and this it cool because, first, it’s sweet, and second, because the first time they tried to give him one his boss had to drag him kicking and screaming and he really didn’t want to and there were riots in the streets and he broke things and they had to say OKAY YOU DON’T HAVE TO JUST CALM THE FUCK DOWN and, look, to his credit, the boss didn’t thought of explaining what the hell everything was about beforehand, so to him it sounded kinda like:
1. Inject the disease on people
2. ?
3. Profit.
Not really something he’d want to try. He had seen the thing back in the 18-somethings with Portugal, who probably had to hold him down so he’d take the damm thing already, but when the boss tried to make it mandatory in 1904, he panicked and the incident lasted for 6 days and, according to my sources, at the end of it
30 people were declared dead and 110 were wounded. There were hundreds of people detained and taken to the northwestern part of Brazil known as Acre.
That’s an interesting punishment, considering we’re not really sure Acre exists. It’s one of those states you keep hearing about, but you never see anyone who actually lived there.
Later, the Rio de Janeiro government restarted the vaccine implementation program. The end result was the eradication of the small pox virus.
And the boss was probably like ‘I HOPE YOU’RE VERY ASHAMED OF YOURSELF YOUNG MAN’ and Luciano was like ‘… wait, so I don’t get sick anymore? Sweet!’ and that was it. Now the kid’s selling vaccines to Martin, plus thirty other unnamed countries (it says so in the news).
(just out of curiosity, I used my google-fu to find out when Port started to use vaccines. Since the beginning of the 19 century, but it only got big in 1964 when they made some huge vaccination program. By then Luci had completely forgotten his tantrum, so when Port mentioned in passing that needles made him nervous he probably just answered ‘nah, just turn your face and you won’t fill a thing. Are you going to eat this codfish? Can I have it?’)
The rest is history.

Now for something really, REALLY silly. There’s this movie, right, and it’s about a spy girl and a super villain girl and they fall in love and it’s cute and fluff and fun. It’s called D.E.B.S.
So, take a look at this and tell me if it isn’t genderbent live-action Brazil/Argentina right there.

She's sulking because Lucy (yes, that's her name) kinda kidnapped her so they could party. The rest of the movie is nothing like them, but this scene is so perfect that I just had to share. YOU DON’T NEED TO THANK ME. ^_^
Now to write my us/uk. Or try to anyway. I’m really sleepy orz
OH RIOT_OF_FLOWERS, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Yes, I know I'm late. I'm ashamed of myself. STILL. I LOVE YOU AND I LOVE SLEEPING WITH YOU <3<3<3
